Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-29

Ridio is a book reader that illustrates what you read with AI. This policy explains what data is processed and where. The honest summary: no accounts, no ads, no tracking, and your library lives on your device.

1. Controller

The data controller is the operator of Ridio. Contact: getridioapp@gmail.com.

2. Data we do NOT collect

There is no sign-up and there are no accounts: we never ask for your name, email or password. We use no analytics or advertising SDKs, do no cross-app tracking, and sell no data.

3. What stays on your device

Your books (EPUB/PDF), reading progress, detected characters and scenes, and every generated image are stored locally on your device. They are deleted when you uninstall the app (or from the in-app Settings).

4. What is sent to servers (only with your permission)

To generate illustrations, the app sends excerpts of the text you are reading to our servers (proxies hosted on Vercel), which forward them to the AI providers: OpenAI (OpenAI Ireland Ltd), Google (Google Ireland Ltd โ€” Gemini) and fal.ai (Features & Labels Inc). The app asks for your explicit permission before the first send; if you decline, you can keep reading normally without AI. Our servers do not store the content โ€” they act as a gateway, apply automated content moderation, and return the result. AI providers may retain data temporarily under their own privacy policies.

5. Anonymous usage identifier

The app generates a random per-install identifier (UUID) that accompanies each AI request. It exists solely to meter your subscription or credit usage and is not linked to your identity. Reinstalling the app creates a new one.

6. Purchases

Subscriptions and credit packs are processed entirely by Apple (App Store). We use RevenueCat (RevenueCat Inc) to validate purchases; it receives the anonymous identifier and Apple's transaction data, never your name or payment details.

7. Waitlist (web)

If you join the waitlist on our website, your email is used only to notify you about the launch. You can opt out by replying to any email.

8. Your rights

You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability (GDPR) by writing to getridioapp@gmail.com. Since reading data lives on your device, deleting it is always in your hands (uninstall or in-app Settings). You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

9. Minors

Ridio is intended for ages 13 and up. Generated content passes automated moderation filters.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with its date. Substantial changes will be announced in the app.
